Plan A

Torre and Brian came to Premier Party Planners after meeting us at the Carolina Wedding Market in 2019. The couple won a free coaching session with Tara Ruffier that day, and later – after Tara and Torre worked together – they realized they were on the same wavelength, what Tara called “a match made in heaven.”

Brian was skeptical. Did they actually “need” a wedding planner. How hard could it be?
Tara made a bet with the groom: if you hire me, and after the wedding you don’t think it was necessary, you can lord it over me and say “I told you so” to your heart’s content. They agreed. And Torre and Brian become Premier clients. Plan A was to have the wedding of their dreams in 2020.

Prep & Tears

When the pandemic hit and Torre and Brian realized they might have to change their plans. Like so many couples, these two thought about moving their wedding to 2021, but waiting is not what you want to do when you want to begin your life together. The more they thought about it, the more certain they were that they’d rather stick with their original plan.

Our Tara met with the vendors, they moved the ceremony outside, decreased the guest list, made adjustments to some elements and moved forward with excitement toward the September 2020 date.

Torre and her bridesmaids got dressed and ready at The Mayton Inn, where the bride read a letter from Brian (note Bob & Linda Belcher from Bob’s Burgers) that made her laugh and cry. Not a bad thing as long as you keep your makeup on. Once they arrived at The Matthews House, they took a few pre-wedding images and drew the long breath before the I Dos.

Say Cheese

And what better way to say cheese than with cake?

… and with the love of your life?

The Reception

After the traditional bride and groom’s Cutting and Smearing of Cake, they joined their guests for hors d’oeuvres and cocktails outside where the lights, table settings and greenery made it feel like a garden party in Savannah. They had their very own dance party and were toasted by their nearest and dearest. At the end of the evening, they were peddled off in a rickshaw. We’re so thrilled that they stuck to Plan A.

Tara won the bet, by the way. Brian told her at the end of the ceremony that he’s not sure what they would have done without a wedding planner, to which Tara and Torre laughed. Congratulations you two!
