The Place

Georgia and TJ tied the knot at Old Lystra Inn in Chapel Hill, North Carolina in April of 2019. Not only was it a gorgeous spring day (you never know during spring in NC), but the place and people made it incredibly special. Old Lystra Inn is a venue that promises (and delivers) flexibility, creativity and service for their brides and grooms. They also deliver on southern charm. While an almost 100% outdoor wedding venue, with the weather 100% on our side, the place transported guests to a time when wandering the grounds and celebrating outdoors was expected and appreciated. For Georgia and TJ, it was magic.

A First Look

Like many couples these days, the bride and groom wanted to have a first look before the ceremony. TJ’s face says it all and he was ready with a little love letter for his about-to-be wife.

The Ceremony

Our sweet couple said their vows outside, but chose to have a massive tent set up, complete with chandeliers for an evening of dining, toasts, dancing and fun. There was plenty of sunlight and shade for guests.

The Details

These two scored points for that hat trick of combining really personal elements into their day along side lots of southern elegance. Old Lystra is such a pretty property, but the house is lovely to. The front porch, picket fence, cocktail and refreshment tables all had a home, and welcomed and included guests in the day. The Polaroid Guestbook was a sweet and clever touch.

People love a wedding, but they also want to eat, drink and be merry and Georgia and TJ took all of that into account when planning with us. What TJ didn’t expect was his groom’s cake. He was completely taken off guard and loved it. The guests enjoyed the mini-bundt cakes (we replenished tray after tray AFTER TRAY of those) and signature drinks from the bride and groom.

The Party

No wedding worth remembering is complete without a snafu and for the Ditmore/Lovejoy-Henkel wedding it was the fairly dramatic pants-split by one of the groomsmen during the reception. By the end of the evening, he looked like he was wearing MC Hammer pants and no one was complaining. He was a hilariously great sport and everyone agreed that they would be talking about that moment decades from now.

All the Best ...

Jason of Veritas Photography took advantage of the venue, the daylight and moments when the couple could be pulled aside for shots they will cherish later. We wish Georgia and TJ a lifetime of happiness and charm, surprises and laughter and boundless love.
