A [Dark] Spring Fling
Setting & Theme
Christine wanted a Tim Burton – Corpse Bride-themed wedding and we had such a blast planning it for them. They chose the Renaissance Hotel in North Hills and it was just right with its black accent walls, original and cool lighting, and nature-inspired carpeting. Tim Burton manages to be both earthy and dark, so we took on the fun task of seeing their vision come to life.
The Ceremony
Burton’s Corpse Bride appears seemingly out of the darkness, in a winter forest with fog swirling around her. We made sure that Christine’s big entrance was enhanced with a fog machine.
The ceremony featured dark jewel tone flowers, black draping, lanterns and candles to set the mood.
Details & Reception
After the ceremony, guests moved into cocktail hour where they were greeted with cocktails and the setting was truly “Burton-eque. The scene took on the “land of the dead” from the movie with touches of purples and fairy lights in the winter branch centerpieces. Blue and purple up-lighting completed the look. Guests’ seating charts featured the movie’s two main characters, the corpse bride Victoria and her groom, Victor. It was a unifying and clever touch.
The groom Karol designed the couple’s wedding cake which featured a scene from the movie and 3-D edible butterflies which symbolized the corpse bride. The couple seemed to embody – and bring to life, pardon the pun – the characters. It was whimsical and beautiful.
Congratulations to this gorgeous couple on finally getting to say their I Dos and with such a terrific and special night.
