Are couples still getting married during this – let’s face it – extremely difficult time? Yes they are; it just doesn’t look like it might during a typical year. Monica and Paul are just such a couple. On July 4th of this year, they were married in the groom’s family’s backyard with a tight group of their nearest and dearest while friends around the globe watched online.

The Couple

Monica and Paul have been together for a decade and their love story is so sweet. When they went ahead with their wedding, we were happy to oblige and thrilled for them both.

Prep Time

Getting ready with your core group while maintaining some sense of safety, we found, was entirely doable. Part of this time was spent laughing and donning their ceremony clothes, which included American flag socks for the groom and his groomsmen. This couple also exchanged letters to each other which they read prior to the ceremony.

The Ceremony

The location for their wedding fell through due to Covid-19, but they had a back-up plan that allowed them to say their vows in an intimate group that included their parents, their siblings and their siblings significant others. The entire ceremony was live streamed so that friends and family from all over could still “be there” to cheer them on and celebrate their union.

The Details

Monica and Paul have two rabbits who are not only adorable but inspired their signature cocktails for the party. All of the ceremony decor was made by the family and there was a surprise video presented by the groom’s sister with well wishes from all of their friends who were unable to attend. These two love deeply and are loved, deeply!

The Reception

Everyone was able to spread out through the house and into the yard and enjoy mini lobster rolls and bundt cakes.

We at Premier wonder how many couples will look back at their Plan B wedding story with fondness and gratitude and tell the tale. That’s another blog, though. In the meantime, congratulations to these two sweethearts who made it happen during a pandemic. You’re well on your way.
