Have you ever read a series of books and while loving the characters, you realize that what keeps you reading is the place? Books about a girl growing up on Prince Edward Island, or elves in Middle Earth or a wizard at Hogwarts are three examples from the kids section that make our point. You dream about a place long after you’re done reading the book and part of you never wants to leave.

We sort of feel that way about Walnut Hill. You dream about this place when you aren’t there and cannot wait to go back. The wedding of Loren Gray and Evan Parrish in September gave us a chance to return to this heavenly wedding venue and it was everything glorious that we remember and love.

At Walnut Hill, there is beauty in every direction, so we were happy to use every opportunity to work with Loren to create special spots, special moments and lots of little vignettes in various places sot that guests could wander and stroll and enjoy the setting as well as the ceremony. We are always aware that while the bride and groom are absolutely the focus of the day, their friends and family should also be treated to a little escape. This place, with a few creative and personal touches, really delivers on that promise.

We say it often, because it’s true: details make the wedding memorable. Flowers, little cards, special lighting and personal gestures that say to guests, “we thought about YOU too” are rewarded with smiles and thank yous. We saw this many times during the celebration of Loren and Evan. The rows of chairs were decked with reminders of how to love and why we love, so that by the time everyone was seated, there was a sense of promise and tenderness……. “THIS is what a wedding should feel like.”

Our bride and groom’s ceremony was every bit the fairytale that fit the setting. This couple could be models for a wedding publication – or any other for that matter. The images of them preparing for the big moment, saying their vows and then walking back down the lawn, sprinkled with petals are stunning.

These two said their “I Dos” on a particularly HOT day. September in the Carolinas is not September in Buffalo, by any stretch, so the bride’s choice of a strapless gown was an A+. Fans, shade and lovely cocktails kept everyone cool-ish. The day could have been entirely different, weather-wise. Everyone was treated to blue skies, but only a couple of days earlier Hurricane Dorian hit, sending rain in our direction. Thank God, it moved off in time.

Their reception was held on the property as well in the Pavilion, with centerpieces made by Loren and her mom. Lots of toasting, dancing and celebrating, just as it should be.

Congratulations to this lovely young pair! We hope for decades of love, joy, good health and laughter for you!

And if you love the idea of Walnut Hill, here’s another beautiful wedding to view – that of Avian and Alex.
