This entirely adorable pair, Kate and Justin, were married at Sacred Heart Church in Raleigh. Sacred Heart is a gorgeous old church that is one of the smallest cathedrals in the region, if not the entire U.S. These two hoped to get married in April of 2020 and sadly that door closed rather decidedly for obvious reasons. Instead, they tied the knot in December of 2020, and the ceremony was glorious.

Time to Prep

A Father's First Look

Kate’s family is Irish, and her parents still have their lovely accents. While other relatives could not come from Ireland for the party, the bride was keen to see her father instead of her husband before the ceremony. Their first look was so sweet.

The Ceremony

The Details

Kate made some specific requests with her groom in mind. First, the beer. Justin is originally from Texas so the bride made sure to have plenty of Shiner Bock at the bar. She also arranged to have a pro cigar roller at the reception. This guy brought the magic and was amazing to watch. He hand rolled cigars all night long for the groom, his crew and others. Everyone enjoyed not only smoking the cigars but also just watching the roller in action. Justin’s four brothers were in attendance, of course, and watching them all celebrate like rock stars was so much fun for Kate.

The couple’s reception at Traine was understated and chic, with Christmas touches, since it was a week before Christmas. The lighting, floral arrangements and mix of colors and textures were gorgeous. The couple were transported from Sacred Heart to Traine with their attendants by trolley and then the party began.

Reception & Party

The traditional dances, along with speeches, combined with great food and dearest friends, made for a fabulous reception. The couple’s send off was met with guests toasting with Jameson Whiskey. It was a perfect day!

Cheers!
