The Couple

This gorgeous couple, Kathryn & Alex, contacted Premier Party Planners and then booked us after that consultation with Tara in September of 2019. These two non-locals were planning a May 2020 wedding. We set up to plan their big day.

It won’t surprise you to discover that of course due to COVID-19, their original all-inclusive venue was not only no longer available, but sadly went out of business. We were left to find a new date, new venue, new caterer, new rental company, etc. NO PROBLEM. Tara told them about an awesome new venue in the Triangle called The Laurelbrook and the couple booked it sight unseen based on her recommendations and the photos she shared. The Laurelbrook, run by Catering Works, fit perfectly into their urban garden vibe and turned out to be the perfect place for them to say their vows and have the party they wanted.

Prep Time

Kathryn, Alex and Tara didn’t meet in person until that first meeting at The Laurelbrook to decide on final layout and decor elements. This is quite uncommon for a Day-of Couple, but it allowed Tara and the couple to really get to know each other and for Tara to plan based on their key goals. They decided to do a first look and the striking white exteriors, with Kathryn’s gown and Alex’s blue suit made for exquisite photographs of that moment.

A First Look

The Ceremony

Katherine was walked down the aisle by her grandfather, since her own father had passed and it was such a sweet moment. They said their vows in front of dear friends and family, all of whom had been assigned individual seats for the ceremony and the reception, for safety and to maintain social distancing. It was an elegant solution to the problem.

The Details

The Reception

The couple loved that Laurelbrook used to be a working greenhouse and made sure to incorporate clean elements and florals that complemented the space and their tastes. The ceremony arbor is something that Premier held on to and is available for future couples to use. There was a surprise Groom’s Cake for Alex inspired by the couple’s world travels.

Congratulations

And there was plenty of laughter and enthusiasm for these two, who decided to go for it during a pretty troubling year. We’re so happy that they did. From the images, it’s hard to tell that they were from out of town and married during a pandemic. We wish them all the joy, health and love they deserve in the years to come!
