For those of you who are not familiar with this place, its history or fame, this is Duke Chapel on the campus of Duke University. At the beginning of every month, brides, couples, and families will camp out on the lawn outside to get in line to secure their date for that month one year out. It’s kind of a thing. Sabrina Rogers and Tate Sasser didn’t know about this tradition, but managed to get the date they wanted anyway. If that isn’t a good omen, good omens don’t exist.
Sabrina and her eight lovely bridesmaids readied themselves at the Croasdaile Country Club, where Tate’s parents are members and where the reception would be held. Just a few moments after the ceremony, the club would be teaming with family, friends, wedding pros and a cute flower girl. The ribbon used in Sabrina’s gorgeous bouquet of pale pink and white roses and peonies was hand-dyed a special shade of blue and all of the bridesmaids wore shades of blue. You’ll see desserts in the Duke Blue colors later at the reception.
As so often happens these days pre-ceremony, the bride and groom shared love letters they wrote to each other. They both teared up, as did their photographer and wedding planner, Tara. Captured underneath those solemn arches, smiling and wiping away tears, the couple each looked so happy and hopeful.
After arriving at the Chapel there was time for more photos as guests were seated.
And then it was finally time for the ceremony.
The Croasdaile Country was filled to capacity for cocktails, dinner, and dancing. The bridesmaids surprised everyone with a flash mob on the dance floor and the bride made sure that the garter search had its own special and comic twist. It was a little more booze than garter!
Details, details, details….. and Sabrina’s choices were classic, elegant and exceptionally pretty. Duke Blue, grey, bright white, blush and pink were all incorporated into the setting, the food and the attendants clothes and accessories.
Sabrina and Tate’s send off was as spectacular as their entire day. They were flanked by friends with sparklers for one last turn and smooch for the day, but certainly not as husband and wife.
Congratulations, best wishes and all the luck in the world to this glamorous couple.
