Just like any profession, Wedding Planning definitely has busy seasons and off seasons. Last year, Nicole and I decided to take advantage of some time during our off season and attend the 2016 Wedding Affair at North Hills. Not only were we able to have some fun designing and creating our own styled booth to show off our creative flair, but attending a Bridal Show is really a great way to network with fellow industry professionals (florists, DJ’s, stylists, caterers, etc.) and meet potential clients.

After a busy morning of setting up, networking, and sampling some of the best cake and desserts around, I ended up chatting with one of the sweetest bride-to-be’s ever. Kayla stopped by our Premier booth and shared with us a little bit about her fiance Nathan, her love for NC State (go Wolfpack) and her dreams for her future wedding day (in that order too lol.) Right from the beginning, I knew I wanted to be the planner for Kayla and Nathan’s big day, and hoped I would be seeing them again soon.

As luck would have it, Kayla would go on to be the winner of our raffle from the show for a discounted Day-of Coordination package, and so my planning dreams came true!

At our first real meeting, I was able to sit down with Kayla, her mother, and her grandmother, and get to know them a little bit better. It was really important to Kayla that the entire wedding day incorporate not only her and Nathan’s love for each other, but also their love for family.

Over the next few months, I worked closely with Kayla and her mother to create a ceremony that included the most adorable junior attendants you have ever seen, a slew of personal touches, and just the right amount of soft romantic decor from Brides and Bouquets to make anyone fall in love all over again.

Because Kayla and Nathan were utilizing the same room at the North Ridge Country Club for the the ceremony and reception, cocktail hour and post-ceremony pictures took place outside, while an amazing team of vendors and staff members “flipped the room” into the gorgeous reception space you see below:

Flipping a space can be difficult under certain circumstances, especially when you have a large number of tables and decor items like we did that day. Careful planning and coordination are essential in pulling it off without a hitch. My advice to any bride wishing to flip a space on her wedding day would be to make a detailed list of everything that needs done in the time allotted, determine who is responsible for moving what, and definitely make sure you have enough hands on deck.

When it was time for the reception to begin, guests were welcomed back into the Ballroom and Patrick from PC Productions led everyone in a few special dances followed by dinner. Guests continued to dance the night away as they enjoyed snacking on a super tasty cake crafted by Edible Art Bakery.

Wishing Kayla & Nathan many years of happiness and love!

No wedding would be possible without the help of an amazing team of vendors.
